Nestled in the hills of western Sicily’s Valle del Belice lies the small city of Partanna. Here, the Asaro family has spent centuries caring for olive trees and have owned their own farm since 1916 where they grow several varieties of Sicilian olives. However, the majority of their crop comes from the world-famous Nocellara del Belice — more colloquially known as the Castelvetrano olive.
Castelvetrano olives have a reputation of converting even dedicated olive haters with their mild and intrinsically buttery flavor. When pressed, they produce a perfectly balanced and versatile oil that’s great for all culinary purposes — from cooking, to frying, to drizzling.
Partanna Foods is one of several brands owned by the Asaro family. All Partanna extra virgin olive oil is monovarietal, meaning that it’s cold pressed from 100% single-origin Castelvetrano olives hand-picked directly from the family’s farm.
Both Partanna Foods and the Asaro Family are dedicated to sustainable and chemical-free farming methods. In particular, their drip irrigation system directly waters the roots of their olive trees which reduces their water usage by up to 80%.
